I AM
Kim Godfrey
Let me start with a confession... you might be able to identify with some of my story.
I haven't always been active and I haven't always cared for my body. In fact, I used to weigh an extra 5 stone whilst living on a diet of fast food, chocolate and fizzy sugar filled drinks. I know what it's like to feel sluggish and crave sweet foods. Maybe like you, I couldn't understand why I wasn't losing weight when I tried exercising more and taking control of my diet.
As with so many of my clients, I felt like a prisoner in my own body and I just didn't know what I was doing wrong. Working long hours, struggling to have time to cook from scratch and it was easy to find myself eating rubbish in times of stress. At times I gave up trying, as nothing I seemed to be doing was making a difference.
It's so confusing when everyone has a different opinion. The contradictions frustrated me and I felt at war with myself. Food was the enemy, exercise was a punishment. I know now I am not alone in those feelings.
The change happened when I went on a journey though running, cycling, outdoor events, playing as part of a team and solo. I discovered resistance training. I learned what my body needs to perform what I want to do every day, and took control of my nutrition. I started working with a fitness coach, and I got the body I wanted and felt amazing. However I needed to know more, and more importantly I wanted to help others achieve what used to seem so unobtainable for me.
Since then, I have lost almost a third of my body weight, but the scales don't own me. I love the food I eat and I love spending time training- in the gym hitting the weights, in the studio teaching classes, outdoors with friends or my animals. This is a way of life. I have discovered the most successful long term way to achieve a healthy lifestyle is to love what you do every day. I'd like to share that with you too. Get in touch and I'll show you how.
